Description

With a height of 25-35m, the branch-free log averages 9m in length and has a diameter of 0.9-1.5m.

The heartwood of Lacewood is light brown and the broad sapwood is white to slightly reddish in color. Domestic Lacewood usually shows a distinct purple-blue glow, while Belgian and French Lacewood are blanker and whiter and show much less tendency to work. Wide, high rays that are darker than the rest of the wood cause typical markings on quarter sliced wood. This is the reason the wood is still sometimes cut into veneers.

Applications include furniture, panels, paneling, paneling, turned goods, dimensional battens, and a variety of other wood products for which beech is commonly used.
