Tineo trees are 20-30m tall, with a diameter of 1m.

The color of the heartwood ranges from pink, red to orange-brown. Contrasting dark brown to black veins are sometimes present. Sapwood is light yellowish brown, usually separated from the heartwood.

With a straight grain, even medium texture and good natural luster, this South American wood is loved for its unique colors and dramatic contrasting black veins.
