Description

The trunks are 30-36 m high, maximum 45 m. The log is 15-25 m long with a diameter of 0.6-0.9 m and rarely more than 1.2 m thick.

Aniegre has a grey-white to pinkish-brown colour and a barely perceptible difference in colour between the sapwood and the heartwood. In trade, a distinction is made between light-coloured (white) and pink-brown (red) wood.

Aniegre is mainly used as veneer in the furniture industry, stained, coloured or printed as an imitation of walnut, cherry, maple and birch.
