Description

The Cedar of Lebanon is between 20 and 40 m high, with a diameter of about 2.5 m.

The heartwood is yellow-brown to light red-brown. The narrow sapwood is pale yellowish-white. The grain is generally straight, although knots or bark inclusions may cause irregularities.  The grain is generally straight, although knots or bark inclusions may cause irregularities.
The tree can reach an age of 1,000 to 2,000 years. The wood is hard and contains a large amount of essential oil, which gives it a particular smell. This specific smell makes the wood very durable and resistant to insects (especially moths).
These trees grow mainly in parks and are therefore available in limited quantities.

Applications for cedar include veneer, carpentry, building construction, boxes and turned products.
