Description

The trunks of the Cherry trees have a height of about 6m with a diameter of 0.6-0.8m.

The decorative yellow-brown, later slightly red-brown, sometimes somewhat veined heartwood, often showing green streakiness, contrasts only slightly with the narrow lighter-colored sapwood. Typical characteristics of Cherry are figure and gom.  Hardness and density vary greatly.

Cherry American black is regularly available. It is suitable for furniture and interior paneling, both solid and veneered. Also for turnery, parts of musical instruments and wood goods such as knife handles, brushwood, drawing hooks and toys.
