Description

Khaya can reach a height of 55 m , the log usually does not have such a good shape.

In terms of wood texture, the different khaya species are almost indistinguishable from each other. Khaya freshly sawn has a pink color, approaching from pinkish red to reddish brown. After years, this color becomes somewhat irregular which must be considered one of the few disadvantages of khaya.

The easily worked wood, beautiful in color and nicely finished, has quite a similarity to swietenia mahogany and can replace it in many cases. It is especially suitable for furniture, interior paneling and all kinds of fine carpentry, carving and turning. It could also be used for facade joinery.
