Description

Koto have a height of 25 m to maximum 40 m. The 15-20 m long straight cylindrical branch-free log has a diameter of 0.5-0.9 m, maximum 1.2 m.

The heartwood of koto is yellow-white in color. Under the influence of daylight, it eventually becomes more brownish. The up to 100 mm wide sapwood is also yellowish white and not clearly distinguishable from the heartwood. When dried, it is no longer possible to tell which is heartwood or sapwood.

Koto is currently mainly used in the form of peel or sliced veneer for flat elements such as wall and ceiling paneling, doors, cabinets, store paneling, conversion furniture, etc.
