Description

The 18-30 m long straight cylindrical branchless log is 0.8-1.5 m in diameter, 2.7 m maximum.

The heartwood is pink-brown or purple-brown to dark red-brown and has a silky sheen. The heartwood stands out clearly against the 40-80 mm thick sapwood which has a gray-brown to yellow-gray color. Macore cuts well into veneers and then produces decorative cover veneers. Because of the grain pattern, which can vary quite a bit, Macore can show more or less regular stripes, flames or a fine moire pattern.

Macore looks like mahogany with a fine grain, but is somewhat heavier. Suitable for facade joinery, veneer making for decorative work, deck veneers for sheet material (mainly plywood) and furniture.
