The olive tree with an average height of 12-15 m and a diameter of up to 0.6 m, sometimes has a rotten heart and is often unusually angry and lumpy. 

The light brown sapwood darkens to brown after. The heartwood is yellow-gray to yellow-brown, often beautifully marked by dark brown to black streaks. The wood is very hard and difficult to split.
